“Obsession” introduces us to Hannah Brinkley and her devilishly handsome boss, Thaddeus Remington. Anise wasted no time giving the reader a taste of the chemistry Thad and Hannah within the first chapter. Each character intrigued me equally with the magnetic pull they had towards each other. I felt enticed in by the “casual glances”, or “longing looks” that they shared. I could sense their desire for one another right off the bat.I loved Thad’s confidence in his dominant nature. Ok, he was a bit arrogant, but it worked. He wasn’t over the top and it was actually sexy as f%^*. Hannah, I felt was a capable woman and lived her life on her terms despite a failed relationship under her belt. She was self-assured in who she was as a woman and embraced her sexually submissive nature. I loved the strength each character brought to the story and the build up of their relationship. I really enjoyed the build up and the questions of doubt they each had that lingered around them. It fueled my need to keep turning the pages.
At times I was adjusting in my seat because the sex just sizzled off the page. My god, Thad commanded the scenes and holy hell if felt like he exuded a raw sex when he and Hannah were together. I loved every part, especially the office scene after their meeting with the partners!
“Oh God... Oh God... Oh God...she chanted. Hannah had no idea how she could hold on much longer but was determined to try. He was unraveling her, lick by glorious lick, and she held nothing back from him.”
The word that caught me most in that quote was “unraveled” because I felt like he was dissecting every part of her and seeping further under her skin with every command or touch of his hand. I mean seriously!! I should also mention Finley in my review… I am curious Anise, very, very curious about who he is and what he represents in Ms. Brinkley’s life.
All in all I was left wanting more of Thad and Hannah. Admittedly cursed Thad a bit in the end, but I love that rush of not knowing what could happen. There is a cliffhanger, but it didn’t make me angry as other books have done in the past. This book does have BDSM and is entirely amazingly erotic. I am dying for more!

Starting over after a bad breakup, Hannah Brinkley needed the satisfaction and security she found in submission and club Nirvana offered that in spades. When her boss, Thad Remington, learns of her need for kink, their work relationship shifts to a whole new level. One with spanking benches, silk ropes and a dungeon full of wicked pain for pleasure toys. She’s not in Texas anymore!
Thad Remington is the consummate Dominate male lead character. He has the looks, the money, the alpha charisma and the love of dark kink that make women willingly obey him. It’s pretty clear up front that he loves his bachelor status and has no desire to change it for anyone. He’s attracted to his personal secretary, Hannah, and I wanted to see how she would handle him outside the office.
Hannah is a very soft spoken, almost too timid, female lead. I know she’s supposed to be submissive and maybe she’s just so overwhelmed by Thad’s personality, but I think I wanted her to be a little more together. Not so “door mat” like in the office. What she likes in the club is pretty extreme. When she gives Thad her very short list of hard limits, I was like “Really? That’s it?”. Maybe what they say about the freedom submission gives a person is true and especially for someone like Hannah. In the club she has the courage to be the stronger person she isn’t comfortable being outside the club. I did like that Hannah seems to grow more of a spine towards the end of this story. I think by the time this series concludes she’s going to be someone who isn’t afraid to ask for what she wants.
Then there’s the whole corporate rivalry angle of this short story. I knew I wouldn’t get the complete picture in this book but what I did get made me very curious as to Finley’s side and how Hannah would be in middle of it all. I totally have my fingers crossed that the last book will bring all three of them together in a menage setting but the level of animosity that Thad has for Finley, has me doubting it. I hope I’m wrong!
I want to really like this series because I’m hooked on the premise and need to see how it plays out. This first book is good. It’s dark and I was a little concerned at how quickly Hannah places her trust in Thad to do seriously naughty things. Yes, she worked for him for a few months but once he confronts her in the club, it’s like she’s known him for years and trust is implicit. This is a short story though so, I guess the author had to move them along quickly to fit in all necessary details that would set up the next two books.
This book ends on a cliff hanger that sets up the next book. I’m hooked and need to see what happens in England and what brings them together in the third book. Readers who enjoy the darker side of BDSM should give this one a try.

Obsession is Anise Storm's debut book and it is a doozy! Hannah Brinkley works for sex-on-a-stick, Thaddeus Remington. Both are intrigued by the other and eventually, they just couldn't resist the draw any longer. In this first book of Storm's Nirvana series, she wastes no time getting to the goods and oh my! It is hawt! Talk about ignite the sheets!! Geez their chemistry was literally leaping off the pages as I read! So good!
Overall, I liked the characters and felt they were fully developed and introduced in a timely manner. They weren't dumped on us all at once which I liked. I loved the way Hannah and Thad shared glances and how the build-up took shape. Of course any casual-type relationship is bound to have doubts pop up and same goes here. Hannah is a confident woman and even though she's had relationships that have failed, I felt she knew what she wanted and how she wanted to live her life. She seemed strong, but not abrasive and I liked that about her! Thad is dominant so his confidence and arrogance shows, but it wasn't in your face. He dripped sexuality so it was not hard to keep reading! We also have a little mystery with Finley. We really don't know much except he is Thad's nemesis and there is some connection with Hannah.... We shall see!
I definitely want more of this couple! Be warned though, this does end in a cliff but it isn't throw my kindle kind of bad. I can't wait for the next book as I am sure it will be highly entertaining as this was. Anise Storm did a great job with this and I believe she is well on her way to being a no questions, one-click author for me! Bravo!
